Dayna Konopelny is a desgner based in Toronto, ON. She is the founder and owner of the fashion brand Emilka Kono, which focuses on sustainable fashion by utilizing second-hand clothing and upcycling Ukrainian textiles. Growing up as a fourth-generation Ukrainian-Canadian, Dayna’s childhood was full of Ukrainian music, language, and textiles. When her baba passed away, Dayna inherited her embroidery floss and her design practice with textiles began.

Emerging Canadian artist Veronica Post of Halifax, NS, has received $30,000 from the REACH Mentorship/Residency for the Arts program, a project of the Shevchenko Foundation in partnership with the Ihnatowycz Family Foundation.
Ms. Post received REACH funding for the creation of Kit-Baba, a full-colour, illustrated children’s book, and for mentorship with award-winning children’s book author Jesse Byrd.

Emerging Canadian theatre artist Lianna Makuch of Edmonton, AB, has received $25,000 from the REACH Mentorship/Residency for the Arts program, a project of the Shevchenko Foundation in partnership with the Ihnatowycz Family Foundation.
Ms. Makuch received the REACH funding for mentorship with multi-award winning playwright and screenwriter Nicolas Billon.

2019 RECIPIENT
Emerging Canadian theatre artist Andrew Kushnir of Toronto, ON, has received $21,000 from the inaugural $25,000 REACH Mentorship/ Residency for the Arts grant program, a project of the Shevchenko Foundation in partnership with the Ihnatowycz Family Foundation.
Mr. Kushnir, a director, playwright and performer, received the REACH funding for a self-created development residency with Tarragon Theatre in support of his proposed new play, The Time Piece.
